Uganda gorilla country
Trek in
to meet
the mountain gorillas
Half the world’s remaining mountain gorillas live in the forests of south-west Uganda. Kiguba Adventure Safaris runs small, permit-secured treks into Bwindi and Mgahinga — and the wildlife circuits around them — with licensed local guides who have walked these trails their whole lives.

One morning. One family. Sixty minutes.
You set out at dawn from a park briefing point. Trackers have already gone ahead to find the family from where they nested the night before. The walk can be forty minutes or it can be six hours — the forest decides.
When you reach them, the clock starts: one hour with a gorilla group, at seven metres, no flash. Then the walk back out. It is strenuous, muddy and, by every account we have collected, unforgettable.
Six parks, one primate route
Bwindi Impenetrable Forest
Half of all mountain gorillas. Four trekking sectors, dense and steep.
Mgahinga Gorilla NP
Uganda’s slice of the Virungas. One habituated family, golden monkeys, three volcanoes.
Queen Elizabeth NP
Kazinga Channel boat, Ishasha tree lions, crater lakes. The savannah add-on.
Kibale Forest
The best chimpanzee tracking in East Africa, plus twelve other primates.
Murchison Falls
The Nile forced through a 7-metre gap. Game-rich northern savannah.
Lake Mburo
Small, close to Kampala. Zebra, eland, walking safaris. A soft first or last night.
Three ways in
The direct route: forest-edge lodge, one dawn trek, out again. For tight windows done right.
The quieter park. One gorilla family, plus a troop of golden monkeys in the bamboo.
Four hours with a semi-habituated group and the research team. Limited permits, USD 1,500.

“Two hours of climbing, then the trackers stopped. The whole family was just… there.”
“They handled a re-booked permit overnight when our flight slipped. No drama, no upsell.”
